Kristin Bjornerud: Safe Harbour debuts at The Art Gallery of Hamilton

I am excited to announce that Kristin Bjornerud: Safe Harbour, debuted at The Art Gallery of Hamilton in January 2012. Curated by the AGH’s, Melissa Bennett, this exhibition features several recent works including some that Kristin created during a residency on the island of Gotland, Sweden, in 2010 as winner of The Brucebo Fine Art Foundation scholarship. Established to support young, emerging artists and juried in part by the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the scholarship enabled Kristin to work and study amidst Gotlund’s ‘fabled history and mythological atmosphere’.
The exhibition runs until May 21 and will run concurrently with exhibitions by both William Kurelek and Mark Lewis.
Dale Smith Gallery patrons will recall Kristin’s magical watercolours, shown at the gallery in 2009. Retellings and Reimaginings was critically acclaimed and left many anticipating the arrival of new work.
Kristin will continue to be represented by the ‘new’ Dale Smith Gallery and is as excited as I am about doing things a little differently. She looks forward to having an exhibition in a pop-up gallery space, likely in 2013. In the meantime, please do contact me with any inquiries about Kristin and her artwork.

As many of you know, the last several weeks have been a time of transition for DALESMITHGALLERY. The decision was made to close the space, at 137 Beechwood Avenue, and to focus my energies on developing a new business model that does not depend upon a single location/physical space to feature and exhibit artists’ work. I will continue to represent select artists and to host frequent exhibitions (in pop-up gallery spaces). You will recognize some of the artists who will be with this new gallery venture: others will be new to you and will soon be included, in the artist section, on the soon-to-be-updated gallery website.
In addition I will be continuing to connect existing clients and emerging collectors to artists and artwork that will not only enrich their lives but, hopefully, will facilitate a lifetime of passionate collecting and patronage of the arts!
The DALESMITHGALLERY website will soon reflect the new direction that the gallery is taking and, thereafter, will regularly inform you, via a gallery blog(!), about new artists, gallery events and general news about Ottawa’s art scene as well as art happenings outside the city.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas/suggestions that you might have about this change in direction!
I look forward to hearing from you.
